Welcome to Summer 2019!
The goal of the program is to provide a learning environment for al sailors to be able to learn and progress. We will be introducing some new and fun approaches to learning sailing and new types of boats as well. We want to get as many members involved in junior sailing as possible.
We have three programs for junior sailors this summer; Summer Junior Sailing, Overnight Camp, and Bait Camp.
Summer Junior Sailing are for sailors who have graduated from 1st grade. Sailing classes will be Wednesday- Sunday in Optis, Lasers, 420s, windsurfers and Sunfish. Learn to Sail classes will be offered Wednesday-Sunday 9-12. The program will run June 9th to August 31st. We may make some adjustments to the schedule in August to account for attendance and wind. Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends will include lots of sailing, but will not have normal Summer Sailing classes. The Junior Sailing Chairs are David and Catherine Musgrove. Overnight Camp is about making friends, learning how to sail, and learning to value TCYC. The 2019 Overnight Sailing Directors are Eloise Novotny and Mary Sommers Pyne. For more information click Sailing Camp on the left.
Bait Camp is for our youngest sailors, aged 3-7, every Sat morning from 9:30-11 AM. Bait Camp is about having fun on the bay. Bait Camp provides water activities on the Bay with heavy parental involvement. The goals for the group are to become comfortable in the boat and in the bay, learn basic knowledge of parts of the boat and wind direction, and to learn the difference between tacking and gybing. Matthew Wright and Emily Forswall lead Bait Camp. For more information click Sailing Camp on the left.
We are looking forward to having your sailors this summer!
